Youthnet Hellas

is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that aims to engage young people at local, national, European and international level through activities and interventions. Youthnet Hellas, started as a Youth Network 15 years ago, evolved into a Confederation of Local Youth Councils countrywide, and eventually from 2009 onwards developed into its current form, that of a flexible and modern NGO.

Youthnet Hellas was created from a group of young people from all over Greece, who decided to dedicate their time and energy to a new NGO, using their experience and long-term commitment in urban and regional youth councils, as well as their knowledge of youth policies, European programs and traineeships.

Youthnet Hellas is aiming to promote young people’s participation, information, social inclusion, voluntarism and active citizenship in community life in National, European and International level (in compliance to the European Commission’s 2001 White Paper on Youth).

     Youthnet Hellas’ specific goals are:

 • enhancing the role of young people at decision-making centres

 • promoting the role of NGOs in National, European and International level

 • promoting multicultural dialogue

 • endorsing the development and implementation of politics supporting children’s and young people’s rights

 • encouraging environment-friendly actions that lead to better life quality

 • advocating respect for democracy, peace, diversity and human rights

 • participating in actions that contribute to the financial and social development of developing countries, the strengthening of democratic values and  human rights respect

 • encouraging exchange mobility and dialogue amongst young people regardless of their nationality

Youthnet Hellas is working on networking young people on the basis of thematic initiatives and monitoring the implementation of international and European youth policies in Greece. Youthnet Hellas offers its members the possibility to seek -with the use of a modern, user-friendly website- information about jobs and internships in Greece and the EU, to get news updates from the education sector, to receive information on actions of Greek, European and international non-governmental organizations regarding the environment, human rights, peace, democracy etc.

Substantial networking is taking place through the internet, between more than 500 youth workers and members of Youthnet Hellas who exchange ideas on issues that are of great importance to young people. Simultaneously, Youthnet Hellas is facilitating participation in a number of European and international action programs in cooperation with institutions and organisations abroad. Youthnet Hellas’ members have participated in hundreds of programs (youth camps, work camps, trainings, seminars and exchanges) during the last 15 years. Youthnet Hellas is participating actively in all youth project calls from the EC and especially in the “Youth in Action” calls.

AEGEE - European Students’ Forum

AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l’Europe / European Students’ Forum) is a student organisation that promotes co-operation, communication and integration amongst young people in Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young professionals from all faculties and disciplines – today it counts 15.000 members, active in more than 240 university cities in 43 European countries, making it the biggest interdisciplinary student association in Europe.

AEGEE, which was founded in 1985 in Paris, puts the idea of a unified Europe into practice. A widely spread student network provides the ideal platform where youth workers and young volunteers from 43 European countries can work together on crossborder activities such as conferences, seminars, exchanges, training courses, Summer Universities, Case Study trips and Working Group meetings.
By encouraging traveling and mobility, stimulating discussion and organising common projects AEGEE attempts to overcome national, cultural and ethnic divisions and to create a vision of young people’s Europe. The structure is based on an European level (a European Board of Directors working in Brussels and 4 Commissions, 11 Working Groups and 9 multinational Project Teams) and on a local level (the 240 antennae or local groups, forming the Network).

The association’s main aims are:
  • Promoting a unified Europe without prejudices,
  • Striving for creating an open and tolerant society of today and tomorrow,
  • Fostering democracy, human rights, tolerance, cross-boarder cooperation, mobility and European dimension in education.

All the numerous events and projects run by the organisation are to be focused on our 4 Fields of Action (Cultural Exchange, Active Citizenship, Higher Education, Peace & Stability) and 3 Focus Areas (European Citizenship, Global Challenges and Intercultural Dialogue).
